Generally, the cycle times are longer than having separate machines, however it doesn't require any intervention which is handy for if you have a busy life. The drying capacity tends to be lower than the washing capacity, so a full wash and dry cycle would be limited to the drying load capacity.

A washer dryer has a larger washing capacity and often a smaller drying capacity. There are a number of different options to choose from when it comes to drum size. Your choice of drum size will depend on how much laundry you do, but we have created a rough guide to help you. 

  • Up to 6kg - ideal for one or two people
  • 7kg-9kg - perfect for medium-sized homes of three to four people
  • 10kg+ - great for larger families of five or 6 people

Simply choose the model with the drum size that suits your lifestyle and typical laundry load best. Remember to consider heavier items such as towels and duvets, and to not overload your machine as it could damage the appliance. 

Choosing the best spin speed

Spin Speed refers to the speed at which the washer dryer’s drum rotates and is measured in RPM (rotations per minute). You can choose from a variety of speed options and find the appliance that is perfect for your needs. The different options will help to protect delicate items and separate your laundry efficiently. The faster your spin speed, the drier your clothes will be at the end of the cycle.

Energy Ratings

You can find out how energy efficient a particular model is by checking the appliance’s energy rating. All labels are graded from A - G to help you understand how efficient an appliance is. However, washer dryers have two energy ratings: A-G for the washing cycle and D-F for when the dryer is involved (with the drying rating being displayed as the main energy rating).     The Sportswear program guarantees to keep your gym and sportswear clean and fresh. This clever program will protect your items by washing them at a low temperature and low spin whilst automatically optimizing the run time and water usage.

  • Wool program

    The Wool program will protect your delicate woolen garments by providing a gentle wash and heat, and minimal tumbling. This function is ideal for maintaining the condition of the garments and preventing them from shrinking. 

  • Drum light

    Some washer dryers offer a special drum light option which will help fully illuminate the inside of the drum. Now, you can avoid losing small items that become stuck inside the drum. Usually, the light will automatically turn off to save energy.

  • Sensor drying technology

    Many washer dryers feature Sensor Drying technology which uses built-in sensors in the drum to detect moisture levels whilst your clothes are drying. Once your clothes are completely dry, the washer dryer will stop automatically to save you time and money on your energy bills.

Measurements & installation

It is extremely important that before you purchase your appliance, you have the correct measurements for the space you have available. Make sure to measure the height and width of the area where you would like to place your washer dryer so you can find the right model for you. Both freestanding and integrated models usually have a standard width of 595-600mm, making them easy to install and find space for. We recommend that you allow 4 to 5mm of space at the back and sides of the washer dryer to accommodate for pipes and ventilation.

Whether you have chosen a freestanding or integrated model, you will want to make sure your new washer dryer suits your style. Washer dryers come in a variety of colours and designs so you can choose the appliance that matches and completes your home.

Maintenance

  • We recommend that you clean the dust filter after each use. Simply remove and rinse the filter, and then leave it to dry. You can then place it back into the appliance. 
  • You can also easily clean your washer dryer’s condenser box. Carefully remove the box from the appliance, making sure that no warm water spills out. Next, pour the remaining water into the sink as you cannot reuse this water due to it containing too many chemical substances.

Generally, most washer dryers do not need a vent as they feature condensing technology. All you need is an electricity and water supply and you’re good to go. However, some models may not offer this feature which means you will need to install the vent through an external wall to the outside of your house.
